Barite powder

硫酸钡是一种化学性质非常稳定的物质，不溶于水，也不溶于盐酸和硫酸，熔点1580℃、比重4.35、莫氏硬度3—4。由于硫酸钡具有的特性，所以是摩擦材料中普遍应用的一种摩擦性能调节剂。

现在应用的硫酸钡的来源有两个，一是沉淀硫酸钡，另一种是重晶石粉。

晶石粉是由重晶石直接粉碎而成。重晶石是一种天然的化合物，主要成分是硫酸钡,分子式BaSO₄。天然重晶石由于产地的不同，矿的品位不同，优良的重晶石矿石含硫酸钡≥90%，甚至达到96%以上。

天然重晶石粉碎——和煤粉混合——高温煅烧——冷却——用水浸出——过滤除去沉淀——加入芒硝溶液（Na SO₄）沉淀——过滤分离——干燥粉碎——成品。

 从以上说明可以看出，重晶石粉和沉淀硫酸钡的化学成分是相同的，含量稍低，但是重晶石粉生产工艺简单，成本低，沉淀硫酸钡生产工艺复杂，成本高，而且其中易含有工艺过程中必须使用的，没有去除彻底的，在摩擦材料中起负作用的酸、碱、盐。从直观上看，重晶石粉干爽，易混合均匀，沉淀硫酸钡粘滞，易结团，不易分散和混合均匀。

所以只要选择品位高的粒度在325目以上的重晶石粉，就完全可以代替沉淀硫酸钡，而且可以起到比沉淀硫酸钡更好的效果。

各地产的天然重晶石粉含量不同，市售的沉淀硫酸钡的含量也不同。有的甚至认为掺假。可用简单的检测法试验。

1、松散密度和振实密度

一般松散密度：80—90ml/100g。

振实密度：40--46 ml/100g。

2、向已准备好的10毫升稀盐酸中加入少许样品，剧烈冒气泡的和反应后无剩余或少剩余的，质量不好。少气泡无气泡冒出或剩余多者，含量是高的。
